Former Wayne State University pitcher Anthony Bass (Trenton, Mich.) was one of five Fort Wayne TinCaps to be named Midwest League All-Stars, as the rosters were announced by the league last week.

Bass has a 5-3 record with a 2.17 ERA - second-best in the league - and 48 strikeouts in 13 starts for the TinCaps, a Class A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. He was Fort Wayne's Opening Day starter and was selected as the league's first Pitcher of the Week this season, as he opened the 2009 campaign with a 15-inning scoreless streak.

In his most recent start June 13 against Dayton, Bass pitched six innings and allowed just one earned run on five hits. He walked one and struck out six as the TinCaps defeated the Dragons, 7-2, for their eighth straight victory.

The 2009 Midwest League All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23 at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton, Iowa.
