CLEVELAND – In the final winter Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, Grand Valley State (Mich.) regained the first place position with 550.50 total points. The Lakers moved from second to first as they finished sixth in women’s swimming & diving and eighth in men’s swimming & diving.

Maintaining their spot in second place is Grand Canyon (Ariz.)
with 527.00 total points. The Lopes finished fifth in both
men’s and women’s swimming & diving, 17th in
women’s basketball and 33rd in men’s basketball.
Ashland (Ohio) is in third place with 492.50
total points. The Eagles finished in second in women’s
basketball, seventh in women’s swimming & diving and 16th
in men’s swimming & diving to hold their position.
In fourth place with 445.50 total points is Adams State (Colo.).
The Grizzlies finished 33rd in men’s basketball and added
275.50 of their points this winter.
Augustana (S.D.) rounds out the top five with 404.50 total points.
The Vikings finished 17th in women’s basketball and 33rd in
men’s basketball. During the winter championships, the
Vikings added 232.50 points to their fall total.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference placed two institutions in the top five, Grand
Valley State (1st) and Ashland (3rd). Meanwhile, the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference placed three institutions in the top 10, Adams
State (4th), Western State (8th) and Colorado School of Mines
(9th).
All winter NCAA championships have been completed with the
following institutions capturing titles: women’s
track & field – Grand Valley State (Mich.);
men’s track & field – Grand Canyon (Ariz.);
wrestling – Nebraska Kearney; women’s basketball
– Shaw (N.C.); men’s basketball – Western
Washington; men’s swimming & diving – Drury (Mo.);
women’s swimming – Wayne State
(Mich.).
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint
effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each
institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women’s and
seven men’s.
The first Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup spring
standings will be published May 24.
