GVSU's Selgo Named NACDA's 3rd Vice President after the 2012 Convention

Cleveland, Ohio - It was announced at the recent National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Mid-Winter meetings with the Officers, Executive Committee and Past Presidents, Nominating Committee Chair and NACDA Past President Dave Roach, director of athletics at Colgate University, that Grand Valley State University Director of Athletics Tim Selgo, would become the Association's 3rd Vice President after the 2012 Convention.

"I am honored and humbled to be named the 3rd Vice President of NACDA," stated Selgo. "I look forward to the privilege of representing my colleagues and serving as an officer in our professional organization."

Selgo, who is in his 16th year at the helm of the Grand Valley State athletics program, led the Lakers to their eighth straight Learfield Sports Directors' Cup in 2010-11. In addition, GVSU has won 13 consecutive, 18 overall, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Presidents' Cup titles as the top athletics program in the 13-team conference. Since his arrival at Grand Valley State, the Lakers have captured a total of 117 GLIAC titles.

Nationally, Selgo served as Chair of the NCAA Division II Management Council during the 2009-10 year, and was a member of the Management Council and NACDA's Executive Committee from 2007-11. In addition, Selgo served as an advisor to the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) during the 2009-10 year.

In the summer of 2011, Lubbers Stadium began a three-phase renovation and a new outdoor track and field/lacrosse stadium opened in the fall of 2011. This spring, women's lacrosse will begin play as a varsity program for the Lakers. In August 2009, the Laker Turf Building opened which gave the athletics teams an opportunity to work inside during inclement weather. Overall, since his arrival on campus, additions and/or renovations have occurred at the baseball, softball, football and soccer complexes.

Prior to his arrival in Allendale, Selgo was an associate athletics director at Toledo, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 19 men's and women's sports teams. He also served as the women's head basketball coach for three years. He was inducted into the Toledo Athletic Hall of Fame in February 2001.
