DONALD HOOTON JR FROM THE TAYLOR HOOTON FOUNDATION SPEAKS AT GLIAC ANNUAL SPRING SAAC MEETING

SAGINAW, Mich. - Donald Hooton Jr., Vice President of Education for the Taylor Hooton Foundation, spoke at the annual Spring meeting of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on Sunday.

The Taylor Hooton Foundation is named after Donald’s brother, Taylor Hooton, who died at the age of 17 from complications stemming from his use of anabolic steroids.  The Hooton Family developed this foundation to raise awareness about the effects of steroid use; specifically performance enchancing drugs.

Mr. Hooton spoke to the GLIAC SAAC group, sharing his knowledge and personal experiences with PEDs. explaining how vast this problem is; not only in college but also middle school and high school aged kids.  The fastest growing users of steroids and PEDs are high school aged girls who feel they need to improve their physical appearance.  Mr. Hooton also provided information on dietary and pre-workout supplements.

The GLIAC SAAC found value in this discussion and will be working to get Mr. Hooton on their respective campuses and talk to all students as well as athletic trainers and other athletic administrators.
