MIDLAND -- Northwood University Director of Athletics Dave Marsh has been named to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Management Council.

Marsh will be representing the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on the council for the next four years. His term will begin at the conclusion of the Business Session of the 2019 NCAA Convention January 26.

The Management Council reports directly to the Presidents Council and is charged with recommending administrative policy and regulations that govern the division. The Management Council reviews and acts on recommendations from the Division II committee structure and from Division II representatives to committees with Association-wide functions. The Council also is responsible for appointing Division II representatives to those committees. It is currently made up of 29 members and features athletic directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, student-athlete advisory committee members and conference administrators.

"I feel very honored to be selected to represent the GLIAC and NCAA Division II coaches and student-athletes on Management Council," said Marsh. "Besides the opportunity to make a difference nationally, a great benefit of being on an NCAA committee is being able to work with other outstanding people from across the country. I am very much looking forward to serving over the next four years."

Marsh has now been at Northwood for 20 years and has been the Athletic Director for the last five years. He was named a Division II Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America (NACDA) in May. Under his leadership, Northwood earned the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence in January. The honor is awarded to a school recognizing campus and community engagement efforts. Northwood took the honor thanks to "Go M.A.D. Day," the University's annual community-service based event.
