Lake Superior State junior sprinter Oshane Thomas began hitting his stride midway through the 2016 indoor track and field season and has put forth one outstanding performance after another ever since.

He recorded the GLIAC indoor season’s third-fastest 200-meter dash time of :21.66 (school record) in the men’s at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic in early February and went on to place third in the event at the GLIAC Indoor Championships with a time of :22.11. He also placed 10th in the GLIAC 400-meter dash.

“Oshane had a lot of performance anxiety when he got here,” LSSU Track and Field coach Jason Davis said. “He looked great in practice, but not so much in meets. That’s not the case anymore. He’s completely bought in now…During the last two weeks he’s won all his races by a half second.”

The St. Thomas, Jamaica, native was named to the USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region Team and is expected to earned USTFCCCA Academic All-America honors. He maintains a 3.657 GPA in biochemistry.
