Big 2nd Half Lifts Oilers to 79-57 Win Over Walsh

The University of Findlay men's basketball team used a big second half to defeat Walsh University by a score of 79-57 on Jan. 28 in Croy Gymnasium. The win, which was their eighth consecutive victory, gives them a 13-5 record on the season.

The Oilers held a 33-31 advantage at the break and then went out and out-scored the Cavaliers by a 46-26 margin in the second half. For the game, the Oilers shot 45.7 percent (32-of-70) from the floor and held the Cavaliers to a mere 28.6 percent (20-of-70) shooting clip. Findlay also held a 44-22 advantage in points in the paint and came away with 11 blocks in the victory.

Sophomore forward Taren Sullivan paced the Oilers with 16 points, five rebounds and three assists while sophomore guard Martyce Kimbrough added 16 points and a rebound.

Senior forward John Staley had 15 points and eight rebounds while freshman forward Alex White contributed 12 points, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 15 minutes off the bench.

Senior guard Dylan Kaufman chipped in six points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Austin Gardner had three points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Cavaliers were led by Trey Fletcher, who scored a game-high 19 points.

The Oilers will hit the road on Saturday to face Malone at 3 p.m. in Canton, Ohio.
