DETROIT -- The four-game series between the Wayne State University baseball team (19-16 overall, 9-9 GLIAC) and Saginaw Valley State (19-20 overall, 4-14 GLIAC) continued on Saturday and the Warriors used two complete games to over match the Cardinals, winning by scores of 7-2 and 8-0, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Patrick Adams (Detroit, Mich. / De La Salle) doubled to left center to begin the game and advanced to third base on a passed ball. A sacrifice fly to center from
Brad Baldwin (Troy, Mich. / Bishop Foley Catholic) allowed Adams to score the game's first run. Heads-up base running from
JT Conti (Trenton, Mich.) in the third inning allowed WSU to extend its lead to 2-0 on a fielder's choice to third base. Conti got into a rundown at second base and allowed
Jacob Finkbeiner (Saline, Mich.) to score from third before the final out of the inning was recorded.
- SVSU cut WSU's lead in half with a run on an RBI double in the bottom of the third inning and the Cards tied the game at 2-2 on a strange sacrifice fly double play that ended the inning in the fourth.
- A wild pitch and a passed ball gave WSU a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning before
Justin Kelly (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South) sent a three-run home run over the wall in right field to push the Green & Gold advantage to 7-2.Â
Nolan Dill (Bowling Green, Ohio) (3-2) retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory and collect his first career complete game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second after Conti started the frame with a double down the right field line and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kelly. The lead grew to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning as
Tristen Jorah (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) plated a run on an RBI groundout and Adams sent an RBI single through the right side.
-
Devin Rose (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Orchard Lake St. Mary's) doubled home a run in the sixth and Finkbeiner followed with a sac fly to right field, giving Wayne State a 5-0 lead. Kelly crushed his second three-run home run of the day over the "green monster" in left to stretch WSU's lead to 8-0.Â
