Box Score Beverly Hills, MI - The second ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team traveled to Beverly Hills, Michigan for their 2014 season opener against Grand Valley State University on Friday, February 21. In a game played at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse, the Panthers built up an 11-1 lead at the half and never looked back, dropping the Lakers, 17-3. With the win Adelphi is now 1-0 overall, while GVSU falls to 1-2.

Jackie Jahelka turned in an impressive collegiate opener, leading the way with four goals, while Alexa Froccaro turned in a three goal performance. Devan Crimi opened her senior season two goals and two helpers, while both Danielle Jaycox and Meg Brown tallied two goals and one assist each in the victory.

Adelphi's defense also caused 10 turnovers in the game as Lauren Janelli, Ryley Webber, Crimi and Jaycox caused two turnovers each. Felicia Mills helped the Panthers control the action, winning 10 draws while Jaycox and Camille Rosellini collected four ground balls each.

The Brown and Gold opened the action by out scoring the host Lakers, 4-1 in the first 10 minutes, getting goals from Froccaro, Brown, Rachel Aitkens and Crimi. The Panthers really poured it on in the final 20 minutes of the first frame, scoring seven unanswered goals, including two more from Froccaro to enter the intermission with a 10 goal bulge, 11-1.

GVSU would open the second half with a goal, 4:46 into the periond. But, Adelphi responded with the three more goals, courtesy of Jaycox, Jahelka and Kate Beier to put the game away at 14-2 with 14:08 remaining.
 
Adelphi held an advantage in every major statistical category, out scoring the Lakers, 31-8, winning the battle in the center with 17 draw controls, compared to five for GVSU and scoring on five of nine free positions. Taylor Hayes picked up her first win of the season with five saves.
