Dragons steal five set victory

The Tiffin University Dragons appeared to suffer from a hangover after defeating Hillsdale Friday night, but were able to rally late and beat the Northwood University Timberwolves 3-2.

The Dragons struggled early, falling 25-23 in set one, and then falling 25-22 in set two. Tiffin decided to wake up in the 3rd set, hitting at a .349 clip on their way to a 25-23 set win. 

The Dragons and Timberwolves were neck and neck at the midway point of the 4th set, when the Dragons reeled off a quick 4-0 run to lead 16-12.The Dragons outscored the Timberwolves 9-5 the rest of the set, beating Northwood 25-17 in the 4th set.

By the 5th set, Tiffin had a strangle hold on Northwood, and kept their foot on the gas in the final set. Tiffin, leading 9-8, used a 6-0 run to win the 5th and deciding set 15-8.

As a team, Tiffin finished with a .270 hitting percentage, pounding 67 kills. The Dragons committed 20 attack errors and eight service errors. Individually, Jenna Huffman had a career game, slamming 22 kills and hitting at a .413 mark. Huffman finished with two solo blocks and assisted on seven blocks. Kasey Adelsperger added 15 kills and led the Dragons in hitting percentage with a .538 clip. Emily Weithman churned out 56 assists, while Taylor Lattimore collected 23 digs.

The win moves the Dragons to 14-10 overall and 5-6 in GLIAC play.
