Tennis Tripped by ODU 6-3

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech fell to Ohio Dominican 6-3 in GLIAC men's tennis today at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies are now 9-8 overall and 4-6 in league play.

Tech's top doubles duo of Felipe Dos Santos and Pedro Rodriguez earned another big victory on the weekend with an 8-4 score over Ritchie Kruunenberg and Justin Tjon. ODU claimed the other two doubles flights with a 9-7 score at No. 2 and an 8-4 decision at No. 3.

In singles, Built Yumuang and Nick Kremkow were the Huskies' two winners. Yumuang earned a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 while Kremkow had another comeback victory at No. 5. He lost the first set for the second consecutive day but battled back for a 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 win.

Dos Santos was just one break away in each of his two sets before falling 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1. The matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 6 were also decided in straight sets.

Despite today's loss and the regular season finale left to be played tomorrow, Tech has clinched a spot in the GLIAC Tournament. Lake Superior State lost to Tiffin today, meaning the Lakers can't catch the Huskies in the standings.
