Dragons stun 18th-ranked IUP 14-12

Tiffin University put it all together, playing strong defense down the stretch, as the Dragons won their fourth in a row and upset 18th-ranked Indiana University (Pa.) 14-12 on the road.

The two teams battled back and forth throughout the game, with the game being tied 9-9 at the half. With the score tied 12-12 with 8:49 left in regulation, Morgan Sherley gave TU the lead once again with a free position goal to go ahead 13-12.

TU's defense then clamped down, not allowing another shot over the next four minutes. Gina Abulone gave TU a big insurance goal off a pass from Elle Hamilton with 4:37 left to put TU up by two goals.

IUP continued to try and get off shots but could not. With 3:21 left, IUP got a free position shot but it was saved by Kat Schneeberger. It proved to be the only shot IUP would get off for the remainder of the game until just 2 seconds remained in the contest.

While most of the stats were even, TU held the edge 25-23 in shots and held a big 11-5 edge in clears. They forced 18 IUP turnovers and overcame an 18-10 deficit in draw controls, including a 7-2 IUP advantage in the second half.

Sherley finished with 4 goals, 2 assists, and 3 ground balls, while Hamilton had 3 goals, an assist, and 3 caused turnovers. Elle MacMillan had 3 goals and an assist, while Abulone had 2 goals and an assist. Amanda Flotteron also had a goal.

Schneeberger got the win in goal, making 9 saves over 60 minutes.
