The Tiffin University volleyball team continued life on the road on Tuesday night, tangling with the Ashland University Eagles. Tiffin kept pace, but were unable to find the key kill they needed to defeat Ashland.

In the first set, Tiffin started like a house on fire, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. The Eagles closed the gap, using a 15-10 run to take a 16-15 lead. The Dragons responded with an 8-3 run to take a 23-19 lead. The Dragons, needing only two points to take the set, wilted under the Eagles pressure. Ashland finished the set on a 7-1 run to take the set 26-24. The Eagles scored their final four points on four Tiffin errors.

The two teams were neck-and-neck in the 2nd set, with Tiffin holding a slim 15-12 lead. A quick 5-0 run by the Eagles gave them a 17-15 lead, but Tiffin pushed forward, tying the game at 22-22. The Eagles used two kills and a Tiffin attack error to take the final three points and the set 25-22.

In the final set, Tiffin and Ashland went tick for tack just like the prior two sets. The turning point came with the score tied 15-15, Ashland rolled ahead on a 10-3 run to take the final set 25-18.

For the Dragons, Danielle Hicks and Jenna Huffman eack logged seven kills. Sydney Gilland chipped in with six kills, and Amanda Curry added five kills. Loryn Huffman led the Dragons in assists with 21, and Taylor Lattimore finished with 16 digs. The Tiffin attack was stymied at the net, as Ashland finished the game with 16 blocks.

The Dragons sit 5-6 overall and 0-3 in GLIAC play. Tiffin will be back in action this Friday, taking on Saginaw Valley State University on the road.
