Storm Hustles Past Dragons 92-80

It was a disappointing start to divisional play for the Dragons, falling to the Lake Erie Storm 92-80.

The Dragons got off to a nice start, using a pair of Austin Adams' free throws to take a 9-5 lead. The Storm, having won only one GLIAC game, didn't back down, taking a 13-12 lead with 13:30 left in the 1st half. Adams continued to work hard for TU, bringing the crowd to its feet twice with a pair of thunderous dunks. The two sides continued to battle back and forth with the Storm taking a three point lead, before Tiffin countered with a 9-0 run to lead 24-18 with 07:59 remaining before the half. Lake Erie kept chipping away, using five made treys to take a 42-40 lead to the break.

At the half, Tiffin was led by Austin Adams with 13 points and seven rebounds. Tiffin held a slight 22-20 rebounding margin, and hit 48.5% of their shots. The main difference between the two teams was the accuracy from deep, with the Storm dumping in two more 3-pointers than the Dragons.

Tiffin retook the lead early in the 2nd half, riding the hot hand of Khaleal McCormick. A made Tony Kynard triple with 13:50 left boosted Tiffin's lead to 59-55. At the 11:01 mark of the half, Lake Erie regained the lead and never looked back. The Storm hit seven triples in the 2nd half, and scored 23 points off 14 Tiffin turnovers, pouring in 50 2nd half points to down the Dragons 92-80.

Tony Kynard led the charge offensively, scoring 22 points on 7 of 14 shooting. Khaleal McCormick added 21 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, and Austin Adams logged a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Dragons fall to 8-8 overall and 4-5 in GLIAC play.
