ALLENDALE, Mich. — Michigan Tech snapped Grand Valley State's 11-game home winning streak and extended its own overall win streak to 11 with a 57-41 victory at GVSU Fieldhouse today. The Huskies held the Lakers to 29 percent field goal shooting to claim their 20th victory of the season.

Both teams missed open shots in the first half. GVSU was 8-for-28 while Tech was 11-for-33.

The Huskies (20-1 overall, 16-1 GLIAC) built up an eight-point lead late in the stanza and had the opportunity to take a 10-point lead into half as Brenna Heise stole the ball and had a lane to the basket. She got tripped up, however, and lost the basketball. Kat LaPrairie came down and hit a deep, contested 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 26-21 margin.

Tech opened the second half by holding the Lakers scoreless on three straight trips. GVSU (15-6, 12-5 GLIAC) eventually pulled within 32-29 with 11:31 to go.

The Huskies then went on a 9-0 run started by a Morgan Anderson 3-pointer. Then with five minutes remaining, Anderson scored five straight points for a 51-35 advantage.

The margin was never less than 14 the rest of the way as the Huskies picked up their first win in Allendale since 2011.

"This was a big win for us—especially for our seniors," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "Our defense was solid, and I really liked our toughness to get this win."

Anderson finished with 12 points—all in the second half. Jillian Ritchie added 11 points and eight rebounds. Four other Huskies had seven points or more. Danielle Blake notched a game-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points, four assists and three blocks.

Tech finished the game at 37 percent from the floor while the Lakers made just 16-of-55 (29.1 percent). The Huskies scored 13 points off of 11 GVSU turnovers while committing just five turnovers (only one in the second half).

Michigan Tech opened up a four-game lead in the GLIAC North Division standings with the win. The Huskies will return home for their final two regular season games at the SDC Gym next week with Hillsdale (Feb. 12) and Saginaw Valley State (Feb. 14).

Notes: Michigan Tech has secured the 18th 20-win season in program history and fourth in five years under Coach Cameron … The Huskies' 20-1 record is the program's best start since 2009-10, when they opened 24-1.
