Kissimmee, Fla. -- The No. 4 ranked-Wayne State University softball squad (16-3 overall) won its fourth consecutive game with a
7-3 triumph over the University of New Haven (4-2) Monday evening at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Warriors scored once in the top of the second on a single by
Brittany Omelanchuk (Brooklin, Ont. / Wilson S.S.), back-to-back sacrifice bunts by
Becca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) and
Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont. / Forest Heights C.I.) and an RBI single by
Steph Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston).
WSU added three runs in the third on two hits and an error. Catcher
Rachel Spaccarotelli (Ray, Mich. / Romeo) walked and advanced to second on an error.
Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont. / Cardinal Carter) followed with a sacrifice bunt and
Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) had an RBI single to left center scoring pinch-runner
Kassie Snyder (Marine City, Mich.). Omelanchuk walked to load the bases and Ryan followed with an RBI single. LeClair then walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-0.
The Chargers scored three runs on three hits and a WSU error in the bottom of the third to pull within one at 4-3.
In the top of the fifth, Ryan had a leadoff single, went to third on a sacrifice bunt with a throwing error and scored on a single by Foreman.
Wayne State's final two runs came in the sixth. Omelanchuk walked with one out and Ryan followed with a single to right center. After a pop out, Foreman doubled to right center scoring pinch-runner

Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich. / Kennedy) started in the circle for the Warriors and allowed three runs (two earned) and three hits in 2.1 innings before giving way to senior
Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman), who improved to 12-1 with the win in relief, struck out four and walked one while allowing three hits in 4.2 innings.
Breanne Gleason went the distance for UNH allowing 10 hits and seven runs (four earned) with five walks and two strikeouts.
Ryan and Foreman each had three hits in the contest with Foreman driving in four runs.
