Oilers Dominate Ohio Valley 6-1

The University of Findlay men's soccer team walloped Ohio Valley University 6-1 on Monday, September 15 in Vienna, West Virginia. 

The Oilers quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead when junior Ryan Repas scored off of an assist from junior Ryan Poyle at the 4 minute mark.  Then, at the 25 minute mark, Repas scored his second goal of the contest which gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead. 

The lone goal for Ohio Valley occurred at the 26 minute mark when Gustavo Guedez scored unassisted. 

The Oilers extended their lead when junior Jordan Gozelski scored at the 57 minute mark.  His goal was assisted by senior Veselin Panchev

The Oilers scoring spree continued when freshman Ryan Husband scored unassisted at the 61 minute mark.

The Oilers delivered another blow to Ohio Valley when junior Mark Sleasman knocked in a goal at the 78 minute mark.  Then, at the 81 minute mark, Sleasman delivered the final blow of the contest when he scored off of an assist from Poyle. 

Findlay goalkeeper Joe McClanahan claimed the victory in the net and had two saves in the process. 

The Oilers dominated offensively with a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and a 27-9 advantage in the shot department. 

The Oilers return to the field on Friday, September 19 when they travel to Painesville, Ohio to face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Lake Erie College.
