The Malone University volleyball team struggled to get on track during Friday's home contest against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Ohio Dominican University, losing in three sets 17-25, 10-25, 19-25.
The Panthers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first set and never looked back. Ohio Dominican held a commanding lead in total kills (44-23), total points (52-27), and attack percentage as they outhit the Pioneers .347 to .098.
For Malone, Sarah Brent and Elizabeth Maczuzak led the offensive attack with 5 kills apiece. Haley Kool and Veronica Gehring each added 4 kills of their own. Cathryn Miller and Maggie Hamrock led the defense with 7 digs each, Miller added 18 assists. Brent and Lynsey Trusty chipped in with 6 digs in the match.
