The Malone University volleyball team is definitely on a roll within its GLIAC competition as the squad reeled off a sixth conference win in its last seven GLIAC matches with a five-set victory at Lake Superior State University (MI) Saturday afternoon. In addition, its last four conference wins have come in five sets.
With the win, the Pioneers improved to 8-10 overall on the year and to 6-5 in the GLIAC while LSSU fell to 2-14 overall and to 1-10 in conference play.
Malone was very efficient on offense, especially middle hitter
Haley Kool, who blasted a team-high 13 kills and posted a .579 attack percentage. Outside hitters
Shelbi Meek and
Sarah Brent contributed 11 kills apiece while setter
Jordan Sollars offered up 26 assists in the contest while also drilling four service aces.
Defensively, middle hitter
Elizabeth Maczuzak posted a team-best eight blocks (two solos, six assists) while Brent added four block assists.
Malone will next compete at the GLIAC/GLVC crossover tournament held in Aurora, Illinois next weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 17-18.
