Box Score 2 The Malone University softball team (10-26-1, 2-20 GLIAC) was stifled by the Tiffin University (23-20, 10-14 GLIAC) pitching staff on Friday, dropping two games by scores of 6-0 and 7-0.
Sophomore
Emily Isla notched both of Malone's hits in game one against Tiffin starter Taylor Spang. Junior
Jillian Coyle received the loss, throwing six inning of seven-hit ball. Only four of her six runs given up were earned.
Madison Yanek followed Spang's lead in game two, also limiting the Pioneers to just two hits. Junior
Stephanie Byrne connected on a double and sophomore
Katie Snoddy added a single in the losing effort.
Byrne was effective in the circle for Malone, holding Tiffin to three runs through the first five innings, but the hurler couldn't escape the sixth inning after an error cost her four runs. Her final line read seven innings, nine hits, seven runs, three earned runs, and four walks.
Malone travels to Ohio Dominican University tomorrow to do battle with the Panthers in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
