Oilers Softball Sweeps Lourdes

The University of Findlay softball team swept a twin bill against Lourdes University on Tuesday, April 8 at Anderson Field. The Oilers won the first game by a score of 9-0 and then came back to claim a 12-4 victory in the second game.

Nicole Motuza picked up the win on the mound in game one by allowing only four hits in five innings of work.

Megan Turner paced the offense by going 3-for-3 with four runs batted in.

Courtney Dwyer went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a stolen base while Allie Cox crossed the plate twice in the win.

In the second game, Abby Funk led the offense by going 4-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Jackie Messersmith added two triples, three runs scored and a RBI while Anna Britvec had two hits and two runs batted in.

Morgan Arnold hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth to force the run rule and finished 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Bonnie Zappitelli took the win on the mound for Findlay by allowing four runs in four innings of action.

Jenna Inman finished the game, allowing one hit in two frames.

The Oilers, who are now 13-8 on the season, will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Detroit, Mich. to take on Wayne State University in a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
