DETROIT --
The Wayne State University baseball team (34-13, 22-9 GLIAC) completed a three-game sweep of the visiting Walsh Cavaliers (22-27, 14-17 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon with two wins on Senior Day. Prior to game one, the Warriors honored its 11 seniors.

Game One (W, 6-1)
The second game of the three game series was scoreless through the first 2 1/2 innings before a Griffin Harms (Bingham Farms, Mich. / Birmingham Groves) fielder's choice RBI gave WSU a 1-0 lead.

Kyle Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich.) (6-2) kept the Cavaliers quiet in the fourth inning but Walsh was able to tie the game with an RBI double to left center field in the top of the fifth inning.

Zimmerman helped his own cause with a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning and Harms gave the Warriors a 4-1 lead with an RBI single into center field. Zimmerman returned to the mound in the sixth inning and hung a zero with a nine-pitch inning.

The Green & Gold extended its lead to 6-1 with two runs on two hits and a Cavaliers' error in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cameron Walker (Clinton Twp., Mich. / De La Salle) collected an RBI in the inning.

Kirk Stambaugh (Sylvania, Ohio / Southview) replaced Zimmerman in the top of the seventh inning and allowed one base runner but closed the door with a lineout to the shortstop.

In his return from injury Travis Rodery (Wyandotte, Mich. / Roosevelt) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Game Two (W, 1-0)
Jimmy Jackson (Battle Creek, Mich. / Pennfield) (1-0) was nearly untouchable in game two in his second start of the season. He retired the first 12 batters he faced and had a no-hitter through five innings.

Zimmerman was again able to deliver the clutch RBI WSU needed in the bottom of the fifth inning with a sharp single into left field scoring Rodery.

Walsh began the sixth inning with a triple to right center but Jackson and the Warrior defense flashed the leather with three great plays to strand the runner at third and keep the Warriors on top.

Following a groundout to Jackson on the mound and a double down the right field line, Clayton Ruch (Pemberville, Ohio / Eastwood) was called on to record the final two outs of the game. Ruch induced two groundouts to collect his 14th save of the season and improve WSU's home record to 15-1 this season.

Rodery finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs and reached base six times.

The Warriors will host its awards banquet on Monday night inside the Multipurpose Indoor Facility and then begin GLIAC Tournament play on Thursday in Xenia, Ohio as the two seed.
