NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (6-9 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) defeated Walsh (8-7 overall, 2-1 GLIAC), 7-2, on Saturday morning in the opening of GLIAC play at Klekotka Tennis Complex in North Canton, Ohio.
DOUBLES RESULTS- Sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) topped Pablo Cabezon and Carlos Jacque, 8-3, at the second doubles flight.
- Freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) won, 8-4, over Heitor Adegas and Jonah Carter at No. 3 doubles, while freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) and junior
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) bested Ross Whittaker and Vasiliy Vidmanov, 8-6, at the first doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS- Carlson earned a two-set victory (6-2, 6-3) over Rodeigo Gracia at the fifth singles flight, while Kechai beat Whittake, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
- Reed topped Jacque in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) at the fourth singles position, and Vane won 6-7(3), 6-1, 7-6(12-10) over Cabezon at the third single flight.
- Sammons fell (6-7(5), 3-6) to Adegas at No. 6 singles, while Charriere lost, 0-6, 5-7, to Vidmanov at the second singles flight.
UP NEXT- The Warriors will compete at Tiffin on Sunday in Tiffin, Ohio. The match is slated for 10 a.m.
