Oilers Get 1st Road Win, 65-58 at Hillsdale

The University of Findlay men's basketball team picked up their first road win of the year on Jan. 10 with a 65-58 win against Hillsdale College. The win gives the Oilers a 6-6 record on the season with a 3-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 50 percent (25-of-50) from the floor and canned 10-of-20 (50%) shot attempts from behind the three point line. They also came away with 11 steals and limited the Chargers to a 5-of-20 (25%) showing from three point range.

Senior forward Jake Heagen led Findlay with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting. He made 5-of-7 attempts from long range and also contributed five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.

Junior forward John Staley produced eight points and four rebounds while freshman forward Taren Sullivan, sophomore forward Tyler Stern-Tucker and junior guard Dylan Kaufman each scored seven points apiece in the game.

Freshman guard Nick Ruthsatz and sophomore guard Ricardo Smith each had six points while freshman guard Elijah Kahlig chipped in three points, three assists and four steals.

The Chargers, who held a 36-23 advantage on the boards, were led by Kyle Cooper's 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Oilers will now prepare to battle Ohio Dominican University on Jan. 15. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio.
