GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (7-8, 3-3 GLIAC) dropped Saturday's match against Grand Valley State (12-4, 5-1 GLIAC) at Ramblewood Tennis & Health Club, 6-3.
The Warriors led 2-1 after the doubles portion of the competition.
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) won at No. 1 doubles 9-7. At No. 3 doubles,
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) and
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) topped their opponents 9-8 (10-2). The duo of Mohamed Fazyl Kecahi (Paris, France) and
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India) fell 9-8 (10-2) at No. 2 doubles.
Fazyl Kechai dropped his match at the top flight of singles 7-5. Charriere fell at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-4 while Keating won at No. 3 signles by default.
Menta, Carlson and Reed all lost their matches at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
The Warriors will travel to Big Rapids, Mich. on Sunday to meet Ferris State at 11 AM. The Bulldogs are ranked 47th in the nation and fifth in the region in the latest ITA rankings.
