Volleyball Falls at Northwood

The Warriors will look to upset seventh-ranked Ferris State on Saturday.

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (9-7, 5-3 GLIAC) fell in three sets at Northwood (9-7. 3-5 GLIAC) on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) and Natalie Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.) combined for a block to tie the first set at 5-5.  Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) gave the Warriors a 12-11 lead with a kill before Northwood took control of the set and led 21-17.  A block Moore and Frazee pulled Wayne State within a point at 22-21 but the Timberwolves won the final three points, winning the set 25-21.

- The Green & Gold led the second set 9-5 after a point from Breault.  The set was tied at 12-12 after a WSU service error and Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) kept the game tied at 17-17 with a kill.  WSU led 21-20 but NU would win four straight points to take a 24-21 lead and eventually win 25-22.

- WSU won the first three points of the third set, capped by a kill from Madelyn Krenz (Chenoa, Ill. / Prairie Central).  However, Northwood would continue to play well and and the game was tied at 9-9.  Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) got in on the action and gave the Warriors a 13-12 advantage.  The T-Wolves would responded with a 5-0 run and led 17-13 later in the set.  Northwood would go on to win 25-17 and complete the 3-0 sweep.

LEADING THE WARRIORS
- Moore led WSU with nine kills, while Breault tallied 26 assists.  Moore also collected 12 digs to help the defense.

UP NEXT
- The Warriors will meet seventh-ranked Ferris State on Saturday with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m.
