The Tiffin University women's soccer team used a pair of 2nd half goals to get the 2016 campaign rolling, defeating Urbana University 2-0.

The 1st half was a feeling out process for both sides, as the Dragons and Blue Knights were unable to crack the scoreboard. The Dragons sent a barrage of shots to the net in the 1st half, holding a 10-4 lead in the shots department. Tiffin goalie, Samantha Ortenzi, faced four shots in half number one, saving all four.

It didn't take long for the Dragons to roar in the 2nd half, as Alli McCabe punched home an unassisted goal to give TU a 1-0 lead over Urbana. Tiffin, looking for an insurance goal, found it in the form of Valerie Brown. Brown took a pass from Leanne Tobin, and finished at the net to give TU a 2-0 lead. Samantha Ortenzi held the wall in the 2nd half, making five saves to preserve the Tiffin 2-0 shutout win.

In total, Ortenzi faced 16 shots, saving seven. Alli McCabe and Valerie Brown both posted goals, and Leanne Tobin notched an assist. The non-conference victory pushes the Dragons to 1-0 overall. The Dragons will return to action on Saturday, hosting Ursuline College at 1:00 pm.
