Ferris State Defeats Tech Men 93-61

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Ferris State defeated Michigan Tech 93-61 in GLIAC men's basketball tonight. The Bulldogs shot 59 percent for the game and turned 22 Huskies turnovers into 32 points.

"We got drilled in every aspect of the game," said Tech coach Kevin Luke. "Ferris is a good club. They sped us up, and we didn't handle the pressure very well."

Tech (5-8, 4-5 GLIAC) jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first five minutes of the game and still held the advantage midway through the half before the Bulldogs came roaring back. The hosts outscored the Huskies 23-12 in the final 9:30 to take a 46-34 score into halftime.

The margin grew to 18 four minutes into the second half. Jeff Gregory hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Kyle Monroe made a layup during an 8-0 run to close the gap to 10 (57-47) with 13:40 to go.

Ferris answered with nine points in a row seize control for good.

FSU shot 68 percent in the second half including 8-of-13 from 3-point range. Fifty of the Bulldogs 93 points came in the paint.

Tech finished the game at 46 percent from the floor.

Gregory tied for team-high scoring honors with 13 points. Miles Sigh also had 13 for a new career high.

Monroe notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Bryan Heath scored in twin figures with 10.

Michigan Tech will wrap up a four-game road swing with Grand Valley State on Saturday (Jan. 16). Tipoff in Allendale is set for 3 p.m.
