WEXFORD, Pa. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (17-10 overall, 8-3 GLIAC) fell, 7-2, to No. 36 Indiana University of Pennsylvania to end the regular season on Sunday morning at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa.
DOUBLES RESULTS - The junior pair of
Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) and
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) topped Sophie Butland and Claudia Menes, 8-4, at the third doubles flight.
- Sophomore
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) and senior
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que.) lost in a close, 8-6, match to Rachel Wood and Alanna McFail at No. 2 doubles, while the freshmen duo of
Liv Peisachovitz (Vaughan, Ont.) and
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) were defeated by No. 21 Jarka Petercakova and Luise von Agris, 8-3, at the first doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS - Senior
Julia Kamenko (Toronto, Ont.) notched the lone singles point for the Warriors as she bested Butland in a super tiebreaker, 10-5 (2-6, 6-0) at the third singles flight.
- Ghellere fell in a super tiebreaker, 10-5 (6-7, 6-0) to Wood at No. 5 singles, while freshman
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) dropped two-set (7-6, 6-2) to McFail at the sixth singles position.
- Poissant was beat, 6-3, 6-4, by Petercakova at the first singles flight, and Kuznetsova lost, 6-4, 6-2, to Menes at No. 4 singles.
- Peisachovitz was topped by von Agris, 6-1, 6-4, at the second singles position.
