The Malone University volleyball team may be starting to enjoy five-set matches as the Pioneers reeled off their second-straight victory that has gone the distance in rallying to defeat GLIAC opponent Michigan Tech University at home on Saturday by the score of 21-25, 29-27, 29-27, 15-25, 15-11. Â In its most recent five-set affair (last Saturday), Malone topped Saginaw Valley State University 3-2 with a 17-15 nod in the final set.
With the win, Malone improved to 6-8 overall and to 5-4 in the GLIAC while the Huskies fell to 6-10 and 4-5 in conference play.

Elizabeth Maczuzak posted one solo block and two block assists each.
Four Pioneers racked up double digit kills as Slauterbeck led the way with 13, followed by outside hitter

Brianna Clegg dished out 28 assists while
Jordan Sollars was very close to that number with 24 of her own. In addition, Clegg amassed six service aces in the match.
Malone will be back in action next Friday when the team will travel to GLIAC foe Northwood University (MI) for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
