DETROIT -- The 10-game home stand continued for the Wayne State University baseball team (22-11, 12-3 GLIAC) on Friday and the Warriors dropped both games of a doubleheader against Northwood (26-7, 13-2 GLIAC). The Warriors fell 8-3 in game one before dropping game two 15-0. Both teams entered the key four-game series with eight game winning streaks and are jostling for position atop the GLIAC standings. WSU had won 14 of its last 16 contests.
GAME ONE (L, 3-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- WSU scored first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on three hits and a Northwood error.
Brad Baldwin (Troy, Mich. / Bishop Foley Catholic) singled home a run to center and another RBI single from
Griffin Harms (Bingham Farms, Mich. / Birmingham Groves) accounted for the inning's second tally. NU scored five runs on two hits and three walks in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Timberwolves added two runs in the fifth inning and another in the seventh to lead 8-3. The Warriors put two runners on in the bottom of the seventh inning but were unable to create any more offense.
AT THE PLATE
- Harms posted a 3-for-4 game with an RBI, while
Devin Rose (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Orchard Lake St. Mary's) went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
ON THE MOUND

Chris Horvath (Lakeshore, Ont.) (5-2) allowed six earned runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out six batters.
Richard Hovde (Saline, Mich.) pitched the final three innings and allowed an earned run on one hit and two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northwood scored in all but two innings, including three runs in the first inning and a six-spot in the eighth inning.

Dennis Olszewski (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Gabriel Richard) and Mergener pitched the final three frames.
