Oilers Come Away With 62-53 Win Over Storm

The University of Findlay men's basketball team claimed a 62-53 win over Lake Erie College on Jan. 24 in Painesville, Ohio. The victory gives the Oilers an 8-8 record on the season with a 5-7 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46) from the floor, but hit only 5-of-20 (25%) attempts from three point range. Findlay also converted 13-of-15 (86.7%) tries from the free throw line and came away with nine steals in the win.

Senior forward Jake Heagen led the way with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals while junior forward John Staley recorded 12 points and four boards.

Freshman guard Nick Ruthsatz also reached double figures with ten points and added four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Freshman guard Elijah Kahlig nearly reached double figures with nine points while junior guard Dylan Kaufman and sophomore guard Ricardo Smith had seven and six points, respectively.

Andy Bosley paced the Storm with 11 points while Jamil Dudley and Trey Howard had ten points apiece.

The Oilers will return to the hardwood on Jan. 29 when they travel to Canton, Ohio to face Walsh University at 7:30 p.m.
