DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball team (22-9, 10-5 GLIAC) continued its busy stretch of the schedule with a doubleheader at Findlay (8-19, 5-11 GLIAC) on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors took both games, extending their winning streak to six games, behind timely hitting and great pitching.

Game One (W, 5-2)
Brandyn Hall (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) (3-0) notched his fourth start of the season and was solid, allowing two earned runs on four hits.

WSU struck first with a run on an Eric Cunningham (LaSalle, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova) single in the top of the third inning. Griffin Harms (Bingham Farms, Mich. / Birmingham Groves) extended the Warriors' lead to 2-0 with an RBI double to right field in the top of the fourth inning.

An Oilers' error started the Warriors' fifth inning. Cameron Walker (Clinton Twp., Mich. / De La Salle) made Findlay pay for the mistake with a two-run triple to right field. Zach Johnson (Grandville, Mich.) followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to give WSU a 5-0 lead.

Findlay responded with a two-run home run to right field off the bat of Tyler Donaldson to cut WSU's lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Brock Bates (Delta, Ohio / Evergreen) entered in the bottom of the sixth inning to replace Hall and tossed a perfect frame including two punchouts. Clayton Ruch (Pemberville, Ohio / Eastwood) came in to start the bottom of the seventh inning. Ruch loaded the bases but was able to collect the three outs needed for the win without taking any damage.

In the process, Ruch picked up his 11th save of the season, matching the program's single-season mark, held by Billy Hurley (2010-12).

Walker continued his hot streak, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Game Two (W, 6-2)
Chris Horvath (Windsor, Ont. / St. Anne Catholic) (2-2) took the mound in game two, also making his fourth start of the season. Horvath was impressive, allowing just two earned runs on one hit while striking out four batters.

WSU took a 1-0 lead in game two on an RBI groundout from Cunningham in the bottom of the first inning. The Green & Gold added a run in the top of the third inning as Cole Clifton (Sterling Heights. Mich. / De La Salle) scored on a wild pitch after he tripled to right center field.

Harms and Clifton collected RBI in the top of the fourth inning to extend the Warriors lead to 4-0.

Horvath took a perfect game into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Oilers put their first runner on base via a single. Findlay loaded the bases after that single and forced WSU to make a pitching change as Jimmy Jackson (Battle Creek, Mich. / Pennfield) replaced Horvath. The Oilers scored two runs in the frame to cut the visitor's lead in half, 4-2.

Kyle Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich.) collected an RBI on a fielder's choice in the top of the seventh inning. Johnson kept the line moving with an RBI single down the left field line to give WSU a 6-2 lead.

Jackson struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning to give WSU its sixth consecutive win.

Clifton went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the WSU offense.

The second-place Warriors will host Hillsdale for a three-game series this weekend beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 PM.
