DETROIT - The Wayne State University men's basketball team (7-1, 4-0 GLIAC) extended its winning streak to seven games, defeating Ohio Dominican University (2-7, 0-5 GLIAC),
73-51, on Thursday night at the Matthaei.
Ike Udanoh (Detroit, Mich./Warren Woods Tower) finished just shy of a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. He also matched his career-high with five steals, a mark he first achieved one week ago against Saginaw Valley State.
Cole Prophet (Sandusky, Ohio) had 15 points, scoring in double figures for the seventh time in eight games, with five assists.
After a six-point WSU run erased an early 4-2 deficit, the Warriors led for the remainder of the game. Wayne State was ahead by as many as 14 points in the first half and went into the locker room with a 34-25 advantage. Udanoh totaled 10 of his 23 points in the opening 20 minutes.
Up 40-31 three minutes into the second half, the Warriors went on an 11-2 run and led by no fewer than 14 points the rest of the way.
While the shooting percentages for Wayne State (44.6) and Ohio Dominican (41.5) were relatively even, the Warriors scored 23 points off of 19 ODU turnovers. Wayne State only had seven turnovers in the game.
Ian Larkin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) contributed 13 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Stacey Waters (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) had nine points with four boards, and
Paul TenHarmsel (Caledonia, Mich.) chipped in five points off the bench.
Wayne State will host Tiffin at the Matthaei on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
