Dragons Broom Pioneers and Panthers

The Tiffin University volleyball team took care of business on day one of the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament, sweeping the Glenville State Pioneers and the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers.

Tiffin vs. Glenville State

The Dragons pounded the Pioneers from the start, taking advantage of Pioneer errors, Tiffin ran away with set one 25-9. In the set, the Dragons hit at a .529 clip, while Glenville only managed a .211. It was the same game and same winner in set two, with the Dragons collecting 13 kills and committing only three errors. The Pioneers recorded only eight kills, and were forced into five errors. Tiffin played a little sloppier in set three, but collected their most kills in any set. Tiffin smacked 16 kills, committed five errors, and finished off a sweep with a 25-20 set victory.

Jenna Huffman had another double digit kill game, collecting 10. Huffman finished with a .750 hitting percentage, committing only one error in 12 chances. Olivia Cobb aided the Dragons' cause, tossing in 9 kills, and Emily Weithman collected 18 assists.

Tiffin vs. Kentucky Wesleyan

The train kept on moving in the night cap, as the Dragons rolled over the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan.

Tiffin snagged the lead early in the first set, using a combination of kills and blocks to lead 14-10. The Dragons finished off set one with a kill by Kasey Adelsperger, with the assist going to Emily Weithman. In the set, Tiffin hit at a .321 clip with 13 kills and four errors on their way to a 25-17 victory. Set two was the tightest of the three, with the Panthers and Dragons trading punches. Tiffin rallied to tie the score at 13-13, and then used a 4-0 run to jump ahead 17-13. The Dragons maintained their lead and escaped set two 25-20. The set two victory broke the Panthers' back, as Tiffin used a 6-0 run to take command of the final set. Tiffin hit at a .367 clip en route to a 25-14 victory.

Danielle Hicks played a vital role for the Dragons, supplying 10 kills off the bench to lead the team. Jenna Huffman chipped in with 9 kills, and Olivia Cobb added 8.

The sweep moves the Dragons to 4-2 overall.
