ORLANDO, Fla. – The Wayne State University women's tennis team (12-4 overall) started its spring break road trip Friday, falling 4-1 to Division I opponent Radford (6-5 overall) in a neutral site contest.
Senior
Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) was the lone winner for the Warriors, defeating Drousile Dzeubou 6-4, 6-2.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Playing Division I rules, Radford clinched the doubles point with wins at the first two flights. At No. 1, junior
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and freshman
Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont. / Robert Bateman S.S.) lost 6-3 to Natalie Sayer and Tyler Blalock.
At No. 2, Mitrache and senior
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) fell 6-2 to Dzeubou, 6-2.
Freshman
Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) and Briana Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) played the third flight, which went unfinished due to the clinched point. The Green & Gold trailed 5-2 to Zoe Fraser and Jeanine Acierto at the conclusion.
SINGLES RESULTS
Kuznetsova battled Sayer at No. 2, with the Highlander earning a 6-2, 6-2 win.
At No. 3, Da-Silva lost to Lotti Meszaros 6-0, 6-3.
Liong trailed Blalock 6-4, 6-5, with the match going unfinished.
In the fifth flight, junior
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont. / St. Anne's S.S.) fell 6-3, 6-0 to Acierto.
The sixth flight also went unfinished, as Douglas lost the first set against Fraser 6-2, but led 4-2 in the second set.

The Warriors will return to the court on Friday, staying in Orlando to take on Concordia, N.Y. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
