The Malone University women's basketball team (16-8, 11-7 GLIAC) forced a season-high 27 turnovers on Thursday evening to notch a road victory at Tiffin University (7-14, 4-13 GLIAC), 60-52.

With the win, the Pioneers completed a season sweep of the Dragons while remaining in second place in the GLIAC South standings, one game behind first-place Ashland University (12-6 GLIAC) and one-game ahead of third-place Hillsdale (MI) College (10-8 GLIAC).

The Pioneers trailed Tiffin 19-18 with 4:30 remaining in the first half before closing the stanza on a 12-2 run to take a 30-21 cushion to the locker room.

A three-pointer from senior Sydnee Penn and a jumper from junior Lindsy Snyder to open the half gave Malone its biggest lead of the game at 35-21. Tiffin battled back to pull within 57-52 with 2.50 to go but Malone's defense laid down the clamps to hold the Dragons scoreless the rest of the way.

Penn led Malone with 15 points and five assists while Snyder added 12 points and five boards. Junior Selana Reale also added 11 points.

In addition to forcing 27 turnovers, the Pioneer defense held Tiffin to 18-of-45 shooting (40%) and just 4-of-14 from deep (29%). Malone didn't light it up from the field either, going just 21-of-54 from the floor (39%) and an identical 4-of-14 from three-point range. The Pioneers were outrebounded 38-27.

Malone will attempt to complete a 2-0 week on Saturday, Feb. 15, with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Ohio Dominican University.  The Pioneers can lock up a GLIAC Postseason Tournament spot with a victory over the Panthers.  Fans can listen to all the action live on the Malone Sports Network (radio broadcast on ESPN 990 AM or streaming live on www.espn990.com).
