DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (5-4, 5-4 GLIAC) was defeated by GLIAC opponent Northwood (9-0, 9-0 GLIAC), 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the WSU Tennis Courts in Midtown Detroit.

DOUBLES RESULTS
- Sophomores
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and
Liv Peisachovitz (Vaughan, Ont.) collected the first point for the Warriors with an 8-6 win over Carol Arnez-Mercado and Anna Aniskina at the first doubles flight.
- Junior
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) and freshman
Julia Walz (Rastatt, Germany) fell in a close, 8-5, match to Veronika Radlinger and Yuliia Russu at No. 2 doubles, while senior co-captains in
Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) and
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) lost, 8-4, to Tetyana Pavych and Anastasiia Kazub at the third doubles position.

SINGLES RESULTS
- Walz posted a win (6-3) in the first set over Aniskina, and sealed the victory by retirement after an Northwood injury at the fourth singles flight, while sophomore
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) garnered a two-set loss (6-2, 7-6(1) to Kazub at No. 5 singles.
- Peisachovitz lost, 6-2, 6-4, to Olesia Riabchuck at the second singles position, and Kuznetsova recorded a loss (6-4, 6-1) to Radlinger at the first singles flight.
- Hughes lost her first singles match of the 2016-17 season to Russu (6-2, 6-2) at No. 6 singles, while Ghellere posted a two-set loss (6-2, 6-0) to Pavych at the third singles position.
