The Tiffin University softball team remained perfect with a pair of victories at the Mid-South Tournament. The Dragons defeated Converse 7-2 and then dispatched of Mount Olive University 3-2 in the nightcap.

Tiffin University vs. Converse College

The Dragons made sure they got out in front in a hurry, using a Jamie Sevenish single and a Sierra Besser-Paul sacrifice fly to give Tiffin a 1-0 lead. Converse responded with a pair of runs over the course of the next two innings, using four hits to do so. 

Tiffin's offense finally got back on track in the 4th inning, taking advantage of a Converse error that enabled Hayley Kobie to reach base. Chloe Swaisgood brought Kobie to the plate with a single to right field to tie the score at 2-2.

The 5th inning was the breaking point for Tiffin. The Dragons crossed the plate five times in the inning to put the game out of reach. Tiffin opened the inning by loading the bases with no outs. Brooke Lambert earned an RBI the hard way, using a hit by pitch to do so. Sierra Besser-Paul reached on a fielder's choice which allowed the 2nd run of the frame to score, and Chloe Swaisgood followed with the same. The big blow came off the bat of Libby Crow, slicing a double into left centerfield, scoring Brooke Lambert and Abbey Zedaker to give Tiffin a 7-2 lead.

The run support was more than enough for reliever Kimmy Reynolds. The senior entered the game in the 3rd inning and shut down the opposition, surrendering only two hits while punching out eight.

As a team Tiffin compiled seven hits, with Besser-Paul, Swaisgood, and Crow each collecting a pair of runs batted in.

Tiffin University vs. Mount Olive 

Runs were a bit harder to come by against Mount Olive, but the Dragons made sure they got the lead first. Jamie Sevenish opened the top of the 1st with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and rolled home on Sierra Besser-Paul's sharp single to right field to give Tiffin the lead at 1-0.

In the 3rd inning the top of the lineup worked their magic again. Sevenish singled, and moved to 2nd base when Besser-Paul reached on an error. With two on and one out, Allyson Rock gave Tiffin some more breathing room with a run scoring single back up the box to make it 2-0.

Mount Olive pulled a run closer in the 4th, using a hit and a Tiffin error to make it 2-1. They tied the score in the 6th, scoring an unearned run off Tiffin starter Tiffany Snell

In the final frame the Dragons knew what they had to do. With one out, Tiffin used a Sevenish double and Lambert single to put runners in scoring position. Sierra Besser-Paul kept the line moving with a run scoring single to left field that proved to be the game winner. 

Tiffany Snell was dominant on the mound for the Dragons, going the distance while allowing two runs, none earned, four hits, while also fanning four. 

Tiffin had numerous players with multiple hits, including Jamie Sevenish with a 3 for 4 performance and two runs scored. Besser-Paul finished 3 for 4 with a run scored and two runs batted in, and Brooke Lambert  also finished with a pair of hits.

The Dragons move to 4-0 overall and will look to keep their record spotless, taking Barton tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
