Rodesky Shuts Down Cardinals | Oilers Win

Winter Haven, Fla. - The University of Findlay baseball team improved their record to 4-4 on the season after a shutout victory over the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit. The 4-0 win on Friday, March 4 is the final game of the spring trip to Florida.

Junior Austin Rodesky got his second start of the week and was lights out. The Bowling Green, Ohio native struck out 12 batters for the second consecutive start.

Findlay got on the board with a single run in the third inning and went scoreless in the fourth before a crooked number in the fifth.

Junior Peter Yorgen led off the inning with a single and advanced on a single from freshman Mark Delas, who finished with three hits in the game. A fielders' choice from Miguel Valdez moved runners to second and third when sophomore Cameron Johnson singled, plating Yorgen. Sophomore Troy Merriman followed with an RBI single that scored Valdez and gave Findlay a 3-0 lead.

The scoring concluded in the seventh when Delas, who doubled to lead off the inning, scored on a passed ball.

Delas finished the day 3-for-4 with a run scored while Merriman had a 2-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI.

Johnson led the team with a pair of RBI. He had one hit.

Findlay will be back in action on Saturday, March 12 when they play Gannon at Mercy Field in Toledo, Ohio.
