THIS WEEK'S NOTES

STAT OF THE WEEK
5 • Consecutive wins by Michigan Tech in its GLIAC home opener. The Huskies knocked off Findlay in its first league game at the SDC a year ago.

MONROE'S HUGE SATURDAY
Rookie Kyle Monroe posted a game-high 26 points vs. Kentucky Wesleyan last Saturday (Nov. 28). His point total represented more than half the team's total in a 69-51 loss. Monroe hit 9-of-11 field goals including 5-of-6 3-pointers in the contest. He also added seven rebounds. The 6-5 freshman is currently fifth in the GLIAC in scoring average (21.0) and ninth in rebounding average (7.7).

HEATH RANKED 12TH IN 3-POINTERS PER GAME
Bryan Heath launched 21 3-pointers in two games in Kentucky last weekend. He made seven of those and is averaging 4.0 made triples per game this season—tops in the GLIAC and 12th-most in the country. Heath's scoring 17.0 points per game with 12 of his 16 field goals thus far coming from behind the arc.

STANKOWSKI'S BIG OUTING
Senior Kyle Stankowski came within two of his career high by scoring 16 points vs. Southern Wesleyan last Friday (Nov. 27). The 6-9 forward went 5-of-8 from the floor and 6-of-6 at the line. He's made all eight of his free throws this season and is tied with 12 other Division II players who haven't missed (and have enough attempts to qualify for the ranking).

GORDON LEADING GLIAC IN ASSIST RATIO
Dillon Gordon moved into the point guard role vacated by Jordan Chartier (injury) during the preseason and has responded well. The 5-10 Trout Creek, Mich., native owns 12 assists with just two turnovers on the year. His 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio is best in the GLIAC and ranks fifth in the nation. Gordon had eight assists with zero turnovers vs. Southern Wesleyan.

HISTORY VS. MU AND WU
Michigan Tech has a short series history with both Malone and Walsh. The Huskies are 2-1 vs. Malone despite a 69-65 loss in both teams' conference opener last year. Walsh leads the all-time series with Tech 4-0 including a regular season meeting and a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal in Houghton last March which the Cavaliers won 77-58.

COACH LUKE
Head coach Kevin Luke has coached in more than 600 career games as Michigan Tech's skipper, with a 381-229 record (.625 winning percentage).  Luke is in his 22nd season on the bench for the Huskies and has led Tech to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and six GLIAC Titles. He is a four-time GLIAC Coach of the Year and was the 2002-03 NABC National Coach of the Year. The Huskies have had seven 20-win seasons under Luke.

NEXT UP
Tech travels for a pair of GLIAC contests next weekend. The Huskies play at Findlay on Thursday (Dec. 10) and at Wayne State on Sunday (Dec. 13).
