Men’s Soccer Sweeps Past Fighting Scots, 7-0, In First Game of Season

Ryan Brumbaugh scored two goals in today's match-up

Box Score The Pioneer men's soccer team put up five goals in the first half to set the pace early on en route to a 7-0 victory over Ohio Valley University (WV) on Thursday afternoon at home.

Matt Akindipe got things going as he scored the first goal of the game and as a Pioneer in the 13th minute of the first half. He went on to score again in the 25th minute of the first half.

Other Pioneer players that added goals were: Luan Tufani, Sam Tonelli, Ryan Brumbaugh who scored twice, and Nick Astalos who tallied his first goal as a Pioneer. Caleb Jones added two assists.

In his first game as a Pioneer, junior goalie Jon Crabbs, recorded his first shut-out and added three saves on the afternoon.

Ohio Valley had 10 shot attempts on the afternoon. Three different goalies from Ohio Valley recorded a total of nine saves.

This is the first shut-out victory the Pioneers have had since October 21, 2012 when they played Walsh University.
 
The Pioneers will be back in action as they host Cedarville University on Tuesday, September 9 at 4 p.m.
