Dragons pull out 5-set marathon vs. Storm

Tiffin University (18-11, 8-7 GLIAC) started fast and then was forced to dig deep to pull out a marathon match against Lake Erie, as TU pulled into a tie for 7th in the GLIAC with a 25-19, 25-11, 22-25, 33-35, 18-16 victory.

TU started on fire and looked like they might put it away in three sets. TU hit .471 in set one and .344 in set two to take a commanding lead. But a back-and-forth set three went the Storms way as they put together a 6-3 run with the score tied at 19-19 to take the set.

Momentum was suddenly in Lake Erie's court, as they jumped out to a 16-9 lead in the fourth set. But TU regrouped, rallying for a 7-0 run to tie the score 16-16. From there on out the two teams traded shots, with Tiffin getting four match points late in the set but failing to put the set away. Lake Erie forced the fifth set with a razor thin 35-33 win.

The final set saw both teams matching each other point for point, with TU again getting numerous match points before finally putting the match away on Kasey Adelsperger's block 18-16.

Emily Weithman had a day to remember, setting a new TU single match record with 73 assists, while Jenna Huffman set a TU Division II single match record with 25 kills. Amanda Curry and Adelsperger had 16 kills apiece while Danielle Hicks also had 14 kills. Huffman hit a whopping .444 while Curry (.286) and Adelsperger (.297) were also strong up front. Weithman also added 7 kills with 13 digs. Taylor Lattimore was all over the court with 41 digs.

Huffman also had 5 blocks while Adelsperger and Olivia Cobb had 3 blocks each.

Overall TU hit .271 as a team with 6 aces and 10 team blocks.
