Decatur, Ala. -- The Wayne State University softball team (1-3 overall) recorded its first win of the season with a
7-2 triumph over Truman State in WSU's fourth game of the 2011 Charger Chillout being hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
The Warriors grabbed an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Junior right fielder
Alison Allen (Redford, Mich. / Farmington Hills Mercy) led off with a single to right. Freshman left fielder
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) reached on a sacrifice bunt error with Allen advancing to third on the play. Junior third baseman
Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) followed with an RBI single and junior first baseman
Rebecca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) plated White with a sacrifice fly to center.
The Bulldogs pulled within one in the top of the fifth with a single and a two-out triple.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Wayne State bats erupted for six runs on five hits. Stanley was hit by a pitch leading off the frame and Ryan followed with a single to center. A single by sophomore catcher
Brittany Omelanchuk (Brooklin, Ont. / Wilson S.S.) loaded the bases. Sophomore center fielder
Steph Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston), last year's leader in RBI, plated two runs with a single to right.

Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.) loaded the bases again.
Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich. / Kennedy) had an RBI fielder's choice and junior shortstop
Lauren Histed (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica) added an RBI ground out. White contributed a two-out, two-run triple to complete the scoring.
TSU scored once in the top of the seventh on a two-base error and a pair of ground outs.
Freshman pitcher
Lauren McLaughlin (Oakville, Ont. / Holy Trinity) earned her first collegiate victory by limiting Truman State to one earned run on seven hits, while striking out four and walking one.
Eight of the nine batters in the Warrior lineup had a hit with six different hitters garnering an RBI. Allen was the lone WSU player with a multiple-hit game.
Both Foreman and Histed extended their hitting streaks to four games, while Ryan recorded a WSU season-high with 10 fielding putouts.
