Truman State Sweeps Findlay in Opener of GLIAC/GLVC Crossover

The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Aurora, Ill. and lost their first match on day one of the GLIAC/GLVC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Great Lakes Valley Conference) Crossover by a 3-0 (26-24, 27-25, 25-22) final. The loss to Truman State on Oct. 17 drops the Oilers record to 11-6 overall.

Leading the offense for Findlay was sophomore Hannah Tong who smashed 14 kills, adding to her total that tops the GLIAC. Freshman Nickyla Garverick also played well offensively as she added nine kills, but her presence was felt more on the other side of the net, as it has all season. With three blocks in this contest, Garverick added to her GLIAC lead and now sits at 78 on the season.

Senior Amanda Calhoun aided the offense as the she picked up 28 assists in the match. The setter was also stellar with the serve as she had four aces.

Senior Samantha Granger and junior Becca Schoemaker each played well defensively as they picked up 17 and 14 digs, respectively.

The Oilers will be back on the court tomorrow morning, October 18 at 10am as they take on McKendree University.
