#16 Bulldogs Top Oilers 3-1

The University of Findlay volleyball team fell 3-1 (26-28, 20-25, 25-17, 23-25) against 16th-ranked Ferris State University on Oct. 10 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss gives the Oilers an 11-4 record on the season with an 8-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers held a 24-21 lead in the first set, but the Bulldogs rallied to win by a 28-26 margin. The rally by the Bulldogs then gave them enough momentum to win the second set before the Oilers claimed a 25-17 win in the third set.  The fourth set was evenly matched, but the Bulldogs continually came away with clutch plays en route to a 25-23 win.

The Bulldogs hit .309 in the match while the Oilers recorded a .200 hitting percentage. 

Sophomore Hannah Tong led the Oilers offense with a game-high 20 kills while red-shirt freshman Nickyla Garverick and junior Andrea Roach recorded ten and nine kills, respectively.

Senior Amanda Calhoun racked up 46 assists while junior Becca Shoemaker tallied 12 digs.

The Oilers will be back at home again tomorrow when they host 12th-ranked Grand Valley State University. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start in Croy Gymnasium.
