ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis program continued to compete in their second day at the ITA Regional Tournament on Sunday.
A SINGLES RECAP
After winning two rounds on Saturday, fifth-seeded senior
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) moved on to play Grand Valley's Marija Leko and won (6-4, 7-5).  She then faced UIndy's Hanna Volikova and lost (0-6, 0-6). First-seeded Volikova took the championship title two rounds after her match with Kuznetsova.
Sophomore
Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) took two wins the first day of the tournament, but ended her winning streak yesterday after facing Maryville's Parfundi (4-6, 3-6).
A DOUBLES RECAP
Although Liong and freshman
Laura Cazacu (London, England) lost in the first round, they had the opportunity to play in the A doubles consolation draw the next day. Â The pair took on Ferris State's Mercedes Fernandez and Nicole Beidacki and fell short in the eight game pro set (5-8).
B SINGLES RECAP
Fourth-seeded sophomore
Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) took a loss on day two after playing Walsh's Clara Drasch (3-6, 2-6). Â In the day prior, she had a bye and won in her first match.
After a successful day on Saturday, sophomore
Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) competed in two matches on Sunday. Â She won the first against Missouri-St. Louis's Clara Lopez Bueno (6-2, 6-2) but retired due to injury in her match against Ferris State's Brittany Lavenant (3-6, 0-1).
Freshman
Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) came out strong on day two as a Warrior after a bye and a win the previous day. Â She defeated Hillsdale's Casey Kibler (6-1, 6-0), but fell short against Grand Valley's Liv Hanover (4-6, 3-6).
B DOUBLES RECAP
After a bye and two wins on Saturday, senior
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) and Jewell took on Ferris State's Amiena Houston and Sam Stephenson, losing the pro set (5-8).
UP NEXT
On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Warriors will compete at Lake Superior State. Â Then on Sunday, Sept. 23, they head to Houghton, Mich. to take on Michigan Tech.
