MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team was unable to extend its winning streak to three matches on Saturday at Northwood. The Timbewolves topped the Warriors 7-2 inside the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) and
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) fell at No. 1 doubles 8-3. Mohamaed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) and
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India) continued their strong season with a 9-8 win at No. 2 doubles. The duo has won seven of their last eight matches and are 11-3 on the season.
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) and
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) dropped the third flight of singles 8-3.
Fazyl Kechai took the first set at No. 1 doubles but lost the nest two 6-3, 6-4, respectively.
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) fell at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-3) while Keating dropped his match at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-3.
At the fourth flight of singles, Menta fell 6-3, 6-7, 9-7. Ruocco was bested at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-1 while Carlson won at the final flight of singles 6-1, 6-4.
WSU will travel to Grand Valley State on April 11 as its three-match road trip continues.
