DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (9-9, 5-4 GLIAC) finished the regular season with an 8-1 win over Michigan Tech (2-13, 1-8 GLIAC) on Sunday morning inside the Multipurpose Indoor Facility.
WSU won two of the three doubles matches.
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) and
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) and
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) won at No. 3 doubles 8-3.
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India) and
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) lost at No. 2 doubles 8-3.
Fazyl Kechai won at the top flight of singles 6-2, 6-3 and Charriere was victorious at No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-1, 10-3.
Keating topped his opponent at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-3 and Menta won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) bested his counterpart at No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-3 and Reed finished the day with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The Warriors will face tiffin to begin the
GLIAC Tournament on Friday at 6:45 PM. The Warriors are the fourth seed while the Dragons are the fifth seed. The tournament will be held at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.
