Sudden turn leads to 5-4 double OT loss at Ashland

Things looked to be well in hand with 16 minutes left in regulation in Tiffin University's game at Ashland, as the Dragons held a 4-1 lead.

But a flurry of goals by the Eagles sent the game to overtime, where Ashland netted a goal in the 102nd minute of the second overtime period to beat the Dragons 5-4. TU falls to 12-4-2, 10-4-2 GLIAC.

After an Ashland goal in the 4th minute, the Dragons exploded for four consecutive goals. Michael McPeek took a pass from Andre Landell to make it 1-0 in the 22nd minute and equalized the score 1-1 at the half.

Tiffin benefited from two own goals, one in the 58th minute and another in the 66th minute to jump ahead 3-1, and then added another when McPeek scored again off a pass from Charles Rolls to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

Ashland, however, continued to attack, scoring goals in the 74th, 81st, and 84th minutes to send the game to OT. In the first overtime, the Dragons sent a barrage of shots at the AU goal, forcing the Eagles' goalkeeper to make 7 saves in the period, but they could not get the gamewinning goal.

AU scored quickly in the second overtime, ending the contest in the 102nd minute.

Cary Wilson took the loss in goal, making 2 saves and allowing 3 goals in 96 minutes. Nathan Steinkampf allowed 2 goals in 23 minutes of action.
